A Flat Tire and Getting Free

Observation:

Saw a person on the side of the road today changing their tire like they knew what they were doing. It surprised me… I’m sure only a few minutes after I past them they were done and back on with their day.

Made me think of life.

How need to be the type of people that when atire goes flat we are equipped with the know-how and tools to safely pull off the road, change the tire, and keep movin’.

Can’t be the crying person on the side of the road with all kinds of stuff from the trunk laying all over the place.

Application:

Traumatic spiritual situations that cause great stress happen in the most inappropriate times. As an aspect of our spiritual health we need to have a consistent secret life before God and a proactive accountability network.

These two facets of our life will help us when we have trouble.

When a hectic situation happens and you have been with God in the secret place and you have been open to someone else on a deep accountable level you have someone you can call and help you back on the right track again. When you neglect that constant accountability you find yourself broken down not knowing what your going to do.

Be wise find your accountability partner… God has already put them in your life just set up a conversation and get free.

Love Till’ it Hurts

God loved people enough that He sent a part of Himself, His Son, to us[1]. This Son this God in flesh was a man who was grief-stricken[2]; all He saw broke His heart. He was weighted down with sadness and sorrow so much so that He constantly had to spend time with Father God[3]. When one of His friends died He cried in public… imagine that Godlove_tat crying in public[4]. At one point He even speaks over the city in a longing hunger to give her the love she needs[5].

He loved so deeply that it caused pain and suffering before His death, and as we all know, it was His brutal death that freed us to have salvation and ultimately to have Him in our hearts[6]. So He abides in us and makes His home in us[7], yet we spend our time checking each other out, getting disgusted at how poor others are. We spend time frustrated that they could be so dumb.

Folks, I’m first in line to admit my fault here, so why not get behind me and pray what Paul longed for, to know the suffering of Jesus Christ[8].

Jesus’ heart melted like wax within Him[9]. He loved so much that it caused pain. We have those folks all around us that need that type of love. We have to step up.

So may our hearts grow and abound in love. May judgment be left to the Creator[10] and may we participate in the type of compassion that mandates suffering.

Choosing the Path Made for Us

Armenians need to quit trying to make their own decisions, Calvinists need to quit waiting on it to happen.

“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them and they follow Me.” John 10:27

Following Jesus is a hard thing to begin to do. But when you experience His insightful guidance you might begin to believe Calvin, that this is all a part of a bigger plan that was predestined. And then as you wake up and choose to follow Him another day you realize that your following is your decision, like Arminius would agree with.

good_shepherd1Soon you are more in tune with His voice and you start seeing less of what is politically right and what is left. But you just know the Good Shepherd’s voice that has led you through thus far.

You hear Him and obey, not because it is mandatory but because He has won your heart. You choose to follow with utter abandon to everything else. As you experience Him in the scripture you gain insight that keeps you on a sturdy path.

You realize that the group of “called out” people you are with are unconquerable because of the hand of God that has built them up. You look at your life and recognize that as you have trusted Him you have been given innocence and freedom. You see the thick spider web-like lies that loved ones are in and you help usher them out with authority and grace. You are an ambassador for the Mighty King who protects you and who works all things for your good.

It’s an adventure… but not like those on TV, this one does not involve your glory. This involves you getting joy as a result of your service to Jesus Christ, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Stop! It sounds too good to be true. This adventure is for those who listen for His voice and follow. Chances are that you have heard His voice and now are either obeying or disobeying. No matter where you are, He is patient and merciful. He does not leave His flock but stays close by. Listen hard…. let your racing mind settle in the silence and listen… then follow.

As often as possible put yourself in the position to hear His instruction. You’ll find that it’s a pleasure to go to the scripture and to the prayer closet to listen to our Shepherd.

Don’t worry He sees all of the dangers around and He sees the path that will lead to rest… choose to trust Him. ~
