One of endeavors in life had been to fully move from the funky post church feeling into the new week. I presume those who are in any way affiliated with ministry know what I am talking about. It’s the weird emotional feelings that make you question everything that was said and in some strange way seek affirmation from those around you.
Well, as mentioned in an earlier blog (that happens to have the most hits Self Reflection (Post Sunday Morning Funk)) I have tried everything from napping to running after the Sunday morning or other spiritual events, with little to no real results. For a long time I ran each Sunday afternoon which helped dramatically until I pulled a quad. But recently through one of my most trusted friends God told me what I had been missing. I had not brought back to God what I had learned from that day. It is the way God works in my life to bring about some type of burden or bad circumstance to draw me to prayer. And this is what God has been trying to tell me for a very long time. He has wanted me to come and download to Him and meditate on what He has spoken to me.
A couple of weeks ago I shared a similar thought with the people of prayer, telling them that receiving the word from the Lord was like playing skeet ball. In skeet ball you get maybe 10 brown balls that you roll up the ramp to score points. If you practice the art of skeet ball 10 balls could score you 5000 points or if you are careless they could score you 50 points. The same amount of balls with dramatically different results. This is how I see our growth in response to God’s word spoken to us. If we learn to care for and use the “word” in a very tactful manner we have to potential to grow quickly and effectively. In contrast this is how some may sit under good teaching for years and not accomplish a lot in the spirit because they carelessly use the “word” spoken to them.
Anyways I hope you think twice before taking your next Sunday nap… at least until you pray over and interpret what God has revealed to you.
good post, j.
