Each week during sermon preparation, I do my best to not lean on my own understanding and just listen to God. I let Him instruct every facet of the sermon. From the brainstorm of what He wants to say to His people, to the stories He wants me to use to describe the concept He is revealing. Sometimes this is hard and tedious, other times it’s as easy as patty cake. I’ve found that when I deliver the message He desired in the posture of humility He wanted I have little to no residual post preaching funk.
What a joy to serve His people in this way. Love my God and the way He loves me and others through me. Light and easy yoke, indeed.
