Went to the beach in the beginning of the week, had a great time. My favorite thing to do at the beach is to carry my journal and walk up and down the beach talking to God. This is usually just the natural occurrence for me when exposed to such magnificence. But it was not so natural at Myrtle Beach. At Myrtle Beach it was not so easy to focus on God, there are a ton of people and a trend of Godless-ness that permeates everything. So when walking on the beach during the day there are hundreds of wondering eyes. People looking at one another, checking each other out, and then with just as much importance, checking themselves out. It’s kinda chaotic in the spiritual realm.
So you can see how little old me could get caught up and distracted in the crazy chaos. Most everyone was overly aware of who was around them, who passed them walking, who was hot, who was not.
But, in the midst of all of this chaos I saw a couple walk by me, as I was in prayer, that was totally unaware of anything that was around them. They were in love. I could of had a Mike Tyson tattoo on my face, feet like a panda, and a Speedo on and they would of never noticed. They were lost in one another.
As I saw this couple, I felt God revealing to me the desire He has for each of us. God desires us to be so in love with Him that everything else becomes peripheral. We know from scripture that Jesus teaches that we can place nothing before Him, not even family. But, with all the rules and regulations about what not to do, it does not especially reveal what God really desires of us in a relationship with Him.
John says that if we love the world, love for the Father does not dwell within us. As a test of where we are I can see that. If your walking on the beach looking around at everyone else, love for your spouse is not in you.
I’m so thankful that this is what God desires for us to walk in. I’m thankful that this relationship is what fuels all the righteousness that God desires us to walk in. I’m thankful that being in relationship with Him is the only thing that makes since in this tired old world. Thankful to be coupled with Christ.
